I’m speaking at Asia Yoga Conference in June!

Last year I learned about the Asia Yoga Conference while browsing around online and researching for my Yoga & Wellness Retreat in Jamaica. I immediately became interested for a few reasons. Well, I totally like meshing my health & wellness interests with travel. I lived in Asia for 2 years and visited Hong Kong over a 3-day weekend (great trip, btw). The agenda just seemed like it was going to be on point (again!).

I submitted to present last year and we were at “yes!” (Go me!). However, the timing didn’t work out. I mean, it IS Asia and it IS kind of far away. So, I was psyched (once again) to get invited to be a part of the event this year.

I’ll be presenting 2 workshops at the 6th Annual Evolution Asia Yoga Conference, which happens June 7 – 10, 2012. Looking at yogic lifestyle, I’ll be presenting How to Shift Your Dreams from Potential to Kinetic (June 8 ) and Delicious Living: Improve Your Well-Being through Nutrition (June 9 ).

Soooo, if you are planning on going (or even if you weren’t planning on going), come check me out. Stop jumping up and down with excitement. Get your passport together. Go over to the Asia Yoga Conference site and register (the early bird discount ends April 4).

If you’re already going or plan on going, let me know in the comments below or Tweet me.  I’d love to hear from you. See you in Hong Kong!

6th Annual West Palm Beach Yoga Day

I left West Palm Beach Yoga Day feeling excited, inspired and tired. I was excited because this event was a formal introduction to some of “my people”. It was also my first speaking and teaching event since relocating to South Florida less than a month ago.

I’ll give a quick re-cap. Just in case you weren’t there. I was blessed to be invited to share my “Take Living Personally: Developing Your Authentic Lifestyle Equation” workshop at the smartwater Education Tent and teach a yoga class at the east stage.

For my workshop, a small group of women gathered to focus on one area of their lives and put ACTION steps into place. Loved it! Apparently, they did too. Here are some comments from the attendees:

…energetic, clear, articulate…handouts were valuable…like your openness and honesty…made me pinpoint and be specific about my task…

I was inspired by the dedication that Therese and Jerry, of Living Fit Today & WPB Yoga Day organizers, have to this event. Folks down here were really friendly and interested in having real conversation. I was able to connect with other teachers, get recommendations of studios to check out, and made some potential new friends. I’ve gone to a lot of outdoor festivals and yoga event. I have a good time at most, but sometimes logistics can be a bit “off”. As a presenter and a participant, I liked the flow of this event. There was enough space and I didn’t feel cramped by the 2000 yogis that were there. Yes, I just said 2000. People got there mats and came out to support and participate in an event focused on connection, devotion, the breath and unity. Love IT!

The quality of the instruction was on point. I observed a few classes and participated in one or two. I also taught “Embracing Your Yoga”, a yoga class that let’s people show up on the mat as they are. I tend to teach a lot of mixed level classes, so this class was perfect for this group, as it’s an invitation to yogis, gurus and newbies to come together for a fun soulful practice. Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos of me teaching. I am sure someone does.

Between speaking, teaching and practicing, I left the event feeling inspired and knowing that I would rest well that evening. Jessica OM (Stiehm) and Aaron “Ananda Das” of Jai Healing Arts had a Thai Yoga Massage demo. Too bad they weren’t offering any to the public. It was a long day for me and I sure could have used one :)

So, there you have it. A great event. A great experience. A great introduction to the yoga community of South Florida. Namaste.

Sometimes Standing on One Leg is Not Yoga…It’s Fear

Here you are, walking along the path that you know belongs to you. Things are going well. You’re eating well and have great habits. You’re in a loving, honest and communicative relationship. You are really enjoying your work and colleagues. You and your friends have an amazingly supportive connection. You are on fire.

Woman standing on one legThen something happens. You get sick. You have an argument. You realize that eh…this job is not working for me so much anymore. Something just happens that shifts things a bit. The vision that you had is no longer as clear as it once had been.

And you are left standing on one leg. Not because time froze. Not because you decided to take the time to master your dancer pose. It’s because you’re afraid.

So, it might appear easier to just stand on one foot. You won’t feel like you failed. Maybe no one will notice. I mean, at least you aren’t making the “wrong” step, right ?!? But after a while, you’ve engaged your core as much as you can. Your trembling thighs and wobbling hips don’t really seem all that fun. What do you do?

  1. Take a deep breath.
  2. Acknowledge the fear.
    • Say hello. Kiss her in the mouth. Get real intimate with her.
    • What would you be doing if you didn’t have this fear?
    • What would happen if you allowed the fear to stay?
  3. Connect to the vision that you have/had.
    • Is the vision the same? Shift how you want to manifest it.
    • Do you want to shift the vision to look like something different? Describe what it looks like.
  4. Give yourself permission to take a different step. You can write your own permission slip.
  5. Take the next step….even if it looks different from what you envisioned…even if it’s a baby step.

I am firm believer that everything is in divine order. So, where ever your foot lands is where it should be. A conscious step is not a mis-step. Sometimes your feet might be guiding the path as opposed to the path guiding your feet.

..

Are you stuck because you are holding on to a vision that doesn’t serve you? How have you navigated your own fear? What step do you need to give yourSelf permission to take? Share your comments below.
